It's one of the biggest questions people have when buying a new air conditioner:
How much will it cost to run?
The answer to this question depends of many factors, but the major variables which will influence how much your AC running costs are:
-The size (capacity) of the unit
– How many hours the system is running for
– What temperature the system is set to
– If the system has inverter technology AND
– If the system is connected to an energy efficient tariff. Continue reading →
It might seem obvious but a smaller inverter unit, that only runs for a couple of hours a day, that is set at a warmer temperature, and is connected to an energy efficient tariff will cost significantly less to run than one that does none of these things.
It's important to remember that simply purchasing a smaller system will not save you money if it's not the right size for the area you need cooled. This will only place extra strain on the unit, and ineffectively cool the home.
